Right now many aspects of kitchen design seem to be in the process of opening up, open structures are breathing more life into the kitchen. What role does design play in a modern kitchen?
An extremely important one – and its importance will grow. Because the design – and by design I also mean the possibilities for using colour, the choice of materials, the workmanship of the details, the individuality, the breadth of the collection – is often what clinches the purchase decision. Apart from that, anything with an authentic beauty is always contemporary – that ties in with what I said about sustainability. The aesthetics of our kitchens don’t take their cues from short-lived trends. It’s more a case of blending timelessness and zeitgeist into a consistent overall concept. Our product development is based on the principles of ergonomics, functionality and sustainability. It relies on calm lines, a clear design vocabulary and an authentic use of materials. The way we choose to live is a process, people’s needs are changing constantly. Responsible “interior design” should accompany this process and set developments in motion. The challenge is to work out clear structures and unique planning solutions from the almost infinite variety of product ranges available and relate them to the room and the users. Exemplary interior design plans and organises the kitchen in its entirety.
