The kitchen is a combination of electronics, water installations, furniture design and architecture. Do people tend to see their kitchens in terms of furniture or as an architectural amenity?
The kitchen is the heart of any house or apartment. The architecture of the house and the planning of the kitchen have to be coordinated. Only then can the kitchen bring the desired added value to family life. Consumers realise this. More and more people are looking for a competent partner who’s capable of taking a holistic approach to planning their kitchen.

Besides being a leading trade fair for professionals from the furnishing sector, the imm cologne, which provides the general context for LivingKitchen, is extremely popular with consumers as well. How important are the Public Days?
A trade show is particularly likely to attract a lot of media attention if the general public has the chance to attend as well. That’s why it’s important that the Public Days are being extended. I’m sure the fair will be well worth a visit. Nowhere else in the world can consumers see so many beautiful kitchens and so much state-of-the-art technology in one place as in Cologne next January. The fair will be offering visitors a very varied and informative programme. I’m sure they’ll love it. The exhibitors, and especially the German kitchen sector, only stand to gain.
